The Salt Pump After-School Programs give children the chance to explore rock climbing in a supportive and non-competitive environment. Under the supervision of our experienced staff, climbers strengthen problem solving skills, enhance their critical thinking, and improve their fitness.
Session One: Sept 4 – Nov 30
Session Two: Dec 3 – March 8
Session Three: March 11 – June 14
Scramblers learn and practice a variety of climbing-related activities in a structured and non-competitive environment. In addition to the many skills required for safe climbing, we’ll introduce students to environmental conservation concepts, wildlife and habitat education, and outdoor adventure skills such as setting up a tent.
Mountaineers learn and practice personal fitness, decision making, problem solving, teamwork, and goal setting. In addition to climbing skills and techniques, our program introduces students to environmental conservation concepts and outdoor adventure skills such as navigation, and Leave No Trace Principles.
The Climbing Club is a climbing and leadership program designed for climbers ages 11-14 seeking to advance their climbing skills in a non-competitive environment. Personal goal setting and skill advancement is encouraged through skills clinics and coach check-ins. The club also has optional mentorship opportunities in working with the younger climbers.
