Salt Pump Scarborough
10 minutes from Portland, 10 minutes from the beach, and less than two hours from some of New England’s finest climbing destinations including Pawtuckaway, Cathedral & Whitehorse, and Shagg Crag.
Position: Responsible for all youth instruction (not including the competitive youth climbing team programs), program development and operations, and ensuring management and training with respect to those programs in our Maine and New Hampshire facilities.
The Youth Programs Director will be based in Maine and will work with a to-be-hired NH based youth program coordinator.
- Full-Time (may include working events, weekends, projects and/or working before/after regular hours)
- Salary $55,000 – $65,000 annually, DOE

Since opening in 2015, our youth programming in Maine has grown to be a highly in-demand program serviced by an experienced set of instructors for a wide age range. With the departure of our current youth program director in Maine and the recent opening of our NH location, we are looking for an experienced Youth Program Director to continue to nurture, manage, and improve our ME-based youth programming and to develop the same for our NH location.
We expect the youth program director to be based out of our ME location and to work closely with our president, COO, facility managers, and the to-be-hired NH program coordinator.
Core Functions:
- Manage and oversee all Youth Programs at both ME and NH facilities, including enrollment, capacity, and hiring, scheduling, and training.
- Prompt and professional communication with staff, participants, and parents.
- Identify program needs and implement changes/new programs to grow and improve youth programming while minimizing gym impact.
- Collaborate with marketing and operations to facilitate communication of objectives, needs, and concerns.
- Maintain positive relationships between customers and Salt Pump through effective communication, program impact, and youth program culture.
- Set short and long-term goals for future improvements and growth.
- In partnership with the marketing team, plan and implement relevant campaigns and content related to youth programs.

Qualifications:
- Enjoys providing direct care and instruction to children and youth and has a passion for youth development and their well-being.
- Minimum 3 years related management experience. Experienced and proven team leader.
- Rock Gym Pro software experience preferred.
- Experience with developing youth programming, preferably in a climbing gym setting.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and organizational and execution skills.

Position: Under the direction of the Youth Program Director, the NH Program Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day youth programming operations at our NH facility.

hours) - Hourly $20.00 – $25 per hour, DOE

Core Functions:
- Coordinate and implement all youth programming as determined by the youth program director.
- Lead instructor and “face” of all youth programming in our NH facility.
- Coordinate supervision of all youth program instructors in our NH facility.
- Handle parent and other customer questions or concerns in-person or via other means and keep the youth program director aware of all such communications and/or escalating to the youth program director as necessary.
- Identify program needs and, in coordination with the youth program director, implement changes/new programs to grow and improve youth programming while minimizing gym impact.
- Address and/or communicate and coordinate with the Youth Program Director regarding expectations, progress, and any behavior/risk management issues.
- Serving as gym leadership and working in a collaborative environment to uphold the company mission and setting good examples for other staff
Qualifications:
- Enjoys providing direct care and instruction to children and youth and has a passion for youth development and their well-being.
- Minimum 1 year experience in youth programming in a climbing gym setting
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and organizational and execution skills.

Position Description: Our desk team are key team members that are the face of the organization and the welcoming energy that helps make Salt Pump the comfortable environment we always endeavor to be. Duties include being responsible for risk management, excellent customer service, retail sales and stocking, teaching Intro to Climbing Classes, and more.
Applicants for this position should:
- Be friendly, caring, and kind.
- Expect to spend most of the day on their feet, actively engaged with customers and members.
- Possess good verbal communication skills.
- Maintain a professional attitude and appearance at all times.
- Have experience with customer service - POS system experience preferred.
- Have an understanding of and passion for rock climbing.
- Have good time management and be able to multitask.
- Understand the risks involved with rock climbing.
- Be able to pass a top-rope test in our facility.
- Be prepared to engage our customers and members in an upbeat, outgoing, and positive manner in order to provide everyone with an extraordinary experience.
Position Details: This is a part-time position. Pay and pay increases are based on a combination of performance and length of employment. Applicants should expect to work weekends and some evenings. Desk and Program Staff will have opportunities to instruct with our Youth Programs and Adult Programs.
Pay starts at $15/hr. Working at least one regular shift per week qualifies you for a free membership. Staff get access to pro-deals, programming and other fun opportunities.

Position Description: Event staff work together with the Event Coordinator to provide an unforgettable, fun, and exciting experience for climbers at Salt Pump events. Events will include birthday parties, Scout groups, school groups, team-builders, and other private events.
Desired Applicant Attributes: An interest in climbing is a must, but the grade you climb is far less important than your enthusiasm and dedication to the delivery of great service.

Position Details: This position is part-time. Open events will be posted weekly by the Event Coordinator - Event Staff will select shifts they can work and communicate with the Event Coordinator. Event staff are required to work a minimum of two shifts per month - a typical shift is 3 hours and may be on the weekend, weekday, or evening.
