Coach

About Team Salt Pump: Team Salt Pump is beginning its third year of operation this coming fall. It is a highly competitive team with national level climbers. Team is currently broken into 3 sections: First Team, Development Team 1, and Development Team 2, each team being on the same competitive track. All teams practice 3x a week and compete in both the USAC bouldering and sport climbing seasons. Practices are structured to push team members to help them maximize their potential and address individual weaknesses, while at the same time maintaining a fun and enjoyable atmosphere.

Position Description: This is a potential full time position with the primary responsibility to lead Salt Pump’s competitive youth climbing program. Hours may vary from week-to-week with flexibility possible depending on whether additional responsibilities are desired such as route-setting and coaching/training for Salt Pump adult programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all Salt Pump competitive youth team programming, including team selection, training of staff, curriculum building, running of training sessions, and managing any disciplinary issues.
  • Responsible for all administrative duties, including scheduling and registration for tryouts, practices, and competitions, as well as, communications with parents and team members.
  • Responsible for organizing and running the team outdoors summer camp in Rumney, NH.

Required Skills:

  • USAC coaching experience required (2-3 years of experience preferred).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong communication and organization skills
  • Strong administrative skills, including knowledge of Rock Gym Pro
  • Be friendly, caring, and kind
  • Maintain a professional attitude and appearance at all times
  • Background in climbing and/or outdoor adventure
  • Route setting experience
  • Willing to assist with additional responsibilities if asked (adult team, skills seminars).

Salary and Benefits: The time commitment for this position is flexible but, depending on additional responsibilities (such as route setting), can be a full time (40 hours per week) position. Salary and benefits commensurate with experience.

Event Staff

Position Description: Event staff work together with the Event Coordinator to provide an unforgettable, fun, and exciting experience for climbers at Salt Pump events . Events will include birthday parties, Scout groups, school groups, team-builders, and other private events.

Desired Applicant Attributes: An interest in climbing is a must, but the grade you climb is far less important than your enthusiasm and dedication to the delivery of great service.

Applicants for this position should:

  • Expect to spend entire shift on their feet, actively engaged with the participants.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and appearance at all times.
  • Enjoy working with children and adults alike.

Position Details: This position is part-time. Open events will be posted weekly by the Event Coordinator - Event Staff will select shifts they can work and communicate with the Event Coordinator. Event staff are required to work a minimum of two shifts per month - a typical shift is 3 hours and may be on the weekend, weekday, or evening.
