Update on COVID 19: Reduced Usage Plan

012A7790

As the coronavirus situation evolves, everyone’s health is of the utmost importance. In order to keep providing access to Salt Pump that is in line with CDC guidelines about social distancing, on Monday, 3/16, we will implement a temporary reduced usage plan. The number of climbers in our facility will be limited to 60 individuals at all times, plus staff. We will also adjust our weekday hours to close one hour early, at 9 p.m.

We feel this is the comfortable maximum number of people in the gym to generally allow six foot social distancing space between individuals and climbing teams. This week’s attendance levels indicate the usage limit will only be reached during peak hours – from approximately 4 – 8 p.m. For these hours, we have decided to restrict access to kids program participants and members only.

To further provide predictably for our members, we have created a daily online registration on our homepage for peak hours. There will be 2 two-hour time slots available: from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. and 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Each day’s registration will go live at 6 a.m. that morning. You can reserve a spot through the website or over the phone. Please be respectful and only reserve time you intend to use. If there’s space in the facility, we will allow drop-in members, but we recommend calling ahead.

Kids enrolled in our After School and Team programs will count towards the 60 person limit.

We request those with flexibility in their schedules consider visiting Salt Pump during non-peak hours to help spread out the overall usage in the facility. We also ask that everyone be economical with their time in the gym to allow others the chance to climb.

During non-peak hours, we will also strictly enforce the 60 climber limit. In the event we reach capacity, customers will be admitted on a first-come first serve wait list.

It saddens us to say this, but dogs will not be allowed in the facility while the reduced usage plan is in effect.

We are still assessing whether to implement a reservation system on the weekends. Please check our website or social media on Thursday for an update.

We are increasing the number of hand sanitizing stations and have increased the frequency of cleaning our facility. In a sport like indoor climbing, there are many shared surfaces that are impossible to clean after each use, like climbing holds and ropes. We recommend not putting lead ropes in your mouth, sharing chalk bags, and practicing safe cough and sneeze etiquette. Please be mindful of recommended practices such as social distancing, hand washing, and, most importantly, opting to stay home if you feel you could be sick.

Salt Pump truly appreciates your cooperation. We apologize for any inconvenience this may bring to your climbing, and hope that by staying open in a responsible manner we can help maintain a level of normalcy in all our daily lives.

If you are coming to climb and curious about the number of people in the gym or have any questions concerning our policies, feel free to call at any time. Stay psyched and stay healthy.
