Yoga Classes

The movement, mind focus, and body awareness required for yoga are perfect complements to climbing. We offer yoga classes regularly for members and visitors in our quiet community room overlooking Scamman Pond and the birch forest beyond. Start or finish your climbing day with a yoga class, or come in for one on your rest day!

Yoga classes are free with your entry to the gym.

Vinyasa Flow Yoga

Mondays, 5:30-6:30pm

Wednesdays, 6:00-7:00pm

Fridays, 5:30-6:30pm

This class is perfect for all students, where you can begin your yoga practice or build on existing knowledge. You will increase your understanding of alignment and proper technique while moving through a methodically-paced sequence, with deliberate progression from one pose to the next. The class will focus on linking movement to breath in a classically-based traditional style designed to build internal heat while calming the mind.

Yin Yoga and Meditation

Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7:15-8:15pm

Yin yoga is the practice of passively holding poses for a length of time in stillness. Yin strengthens, lengthens, and hydrates the connective tissues throughout the body including the bones, fascia, and joints to maintain mobility and flexibility as we age.

The use of props for support relaxes the muscles and invites the releasing of tension we hold in our body. Holding the poses, often for a few minutes at a time, increases blood flow, fluids, and chi/prana to these areas, which promotes healing. Meditation supports this healing by improving the health of your brain and immune system, reducing blood pressure, and bringing more awareness and energy to enjoy life.

This class will help you nurture your Yin nature within and is a wonderful complement to our yang lifestyle. No experience necessary.
