Learn to Rock Climb - Skills Series

Take a deep dive into your technical know-how with our new Skills Series! These three part programs, designed and administered by Salt Pump professionals, allow for more comprehensive skill development on a given subject matter. Several skills series include an outdoor climbing day, check ’em out!

All Skills Series include a day pass and rental gear for the day of the program ($29 value). Registration prior to class day required. A minimum of 2 registrants is required for a program to run and each Skills Series is limited to 6 participants total.

Current Skills Series Offerings
Trad Climbing with Outdoor Day

‘Trad’ or traditional climbing is the heritage calling of rock climbing. It’s adventurous, technical, and it connects us to the origin of the sport. Trad requires specialized gear, complex systems, and a wealth of knowledge. Let us provide you with a multi­focus experience that covers racking up, gear placements, anchors, multi­pitch transitions and more! The participants of this course will also enjoy a day of outdoor climbing where they will be able to practice their new skills out on the rock!

Course Prerequisites: Top rope belay proficient


Three part series:

March 30 and April 6, 6:30-8:30pm and all day April 8 (April 9 rain day)

May 25 and June 1, 6:30-8:30pm and all day June 3 (June 4 rain day)

July 6 and July 13, 6:30-8:30pm and all day July 15 (July 16 rain day)

$200 non-members / $180 for members

Sport Climbing with Outdoor Day

If you love rope climbing, enjoy pushing your limits, and are ready to progress further from the great indoors to the fantastic outdoors, sport climbing is your ticket. However, there is a big difference between safely clipping up your gym project and going cragging at a classic New England destination. Let us help you get through the nitty gritty from arrival logistics, cleaning overhanging routes, and the etiquettes and ethics of outdoor climbing.

June 15 and June 22, 6:30-8:30pm and all day June 24 (June 25 rain day)

$200 non-member / $180 members

Big Wall Climbing with outdoor day

Endeavoring towards crossing a sea of stone requires the knowledge and competence in three fundamental practices. Learn the what, the why, and the how in jugging, hauling, and aiding from a master. This seminar will leaving you more proficient and knowledgeable for your next big wall adventure. There will be three indoor classes that will build on any climber’s knowledge of systems.
